New Album from U2 Next Year

Adam Clayton, the bass player from U2, told an Irish radio station that the band will release their 13th studio album in 2014 with 12 songs.

This will be the bands first album since 2009, and is a follow up to their "No Line on the Horizon" album, bridging different eras from their career.  They expect to finish up the album by Christmastime.

Clayton said on 98FM's Dermot & Dave show, ''I think it's a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It's a combination of those two things and it's a really interesting hybrid."

The band's guitarist, Edge, told the Herald, ''We always try to bring out something different, every time we're in studio. But it's the fans who decide that really.''  They are experimenting with different sounds in the studio.

U2 have been seen around New York City at the Electric Lady Studios, recording for their next album in June. Producer Danger Mouse and Coldplay front man, Chris Martin, were also spotted nearby.
