Quick, get some antacid for all the sweetness you're about to consume!
John Mayer claims he just can't quit Katy Perry. The on again, off again relationship seems to be back on again!
Mayer spoke recently with Billboard.com, and he spoke about the duet the two sing together, "Who You Love," which is on his yet to be released album, "Paradise Valley." The album is set to be released on August 20th, but has already been leaked.
Mayer said, "I started singing 'And my girl, she ain't the one I saw coming / Sometimes I don't know which way to go / And I tried to run before, but I'm not running anymore.' In 2013, modern-day times that's sweet. Because there's so many other things to occupy your time that you can do for yourself. That is to say, I tried to be alone, but I can't. This is sort of our generation."
Those comments are in line with claim by Mayer that he first broke up with Perry. She told Vogue in an interview, that they were not together at the time, but "still madly in love with him."
Mayer thinks very highly of Perry's contribution to the song, and said she penned her own verse. He gushed, "I immediately thought about Katy and I was like, what a cool voice. What a cool artistic personality to have on. It was a really fun opportunity for her to write like, her answer to that. So you get these two sides to this relationship that are brutally honest but no less universal."
Even before the release of her new single "Roar," Mayer immediately knew it was going to be a huge hit.
So sweet and gushy, aren't they?
John Mayer is currently on tour with Phillip Phillips from American Idol (let's be frank a moment, I'd be 1000000x more exited to see Phillip live than John. There, I said it). Katy Perry is set to perform with the iHeartradio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 20th.
