10 New Sting Shows Added

Sting has just announced a special line up of 10 shows this fall to benefit New York City's Public Theater. The shows will be held at the intimate Anspacher Theater which only has 250 seats. These shows will be particularly special as these songs will be the first and only times Sting will preform them for his new album titled, The Last Ship.

The Last Ship is scheduled to be released on September 24th. Sting will also premier a play with the same title next year. Inspiration for the play and the album were motivated by where Sting was born and raised, the shipbuilding community of Wallsend, England.

Sting commented, “The Public Theater, a New York institution committed to supporting all of the city’s distinct communities, was a natural fit to perform this material that is, at its core, about the importance of community."

The staff at the Public Theater feel very honored to host Sting this fall. Public Theater’s artistic director Oskar Eustis commented, "Sting is one of the great artists of our time, a brilliant songwriter who is also a model of activist commitment. The Last Ship is shaping up to be a masterpiece, both an elegy for and a celebration of the working class life of the Newcastle shipyards. The Public is honored to call Sting a friend and thrilled to be hosting these benefit concerts.”

The concerts are on the books for Sept. 25-28, Oct. 1, 4-6 & 8-9. All proceeds will go to the Public Theater and of special note, ticket purchases will be tax deductible.

Additionally, Sting has arranged for a extraordinary opportunity for some of his official fan club on October 2nd, his birthday. A random drawing of 100 sting.com fan club members will receive free tickets for this gig.
