Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. in 1971, grew up in Long Beach, California. He rose to fame in the early 1990s with the release of his debut album, "Doggystyle," which featured the hit single "Gin and Juice." Since then, he has released a string of successful albums, collaborated with numerous other artists, and even branched out into acting.
Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz in 1987, hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He first gained attention with the release of his mixtape "Kush and Orange Juice" in 2010, which helped him secure a record deal with Atlantic Records. His breakthrough single, "Black and Yellow," became a massive hit in 2011, and since then he has continued to release critically acclaimed albums and collaborate with other artists.
Despite their different backgrounds and upbringings, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have found common ground in their love of music and cannabis. Both artists are known for their affinity for marijuana and have incorporated it into their music and branding.
In 2011, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa teamed up for the "Mac & Devin Go to High School" soundtrack, which featured the hit single "Young, Wild & Free." The two artists also collaborated on the song "French Inhale," which became a fan favorite. The success of the soundtrack led to a joint tour in 2012, which saw Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa perform together in cities across the United States.
The two artists have remained close friends and collaborators over the years, with Snoop Dogg even serving as a mentor to Wiz Khalifa. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Wiz Khalifa spoke about the influence that Snoop Dogg has had on his career, saying, "He's like a big brother to me. He's always looking out for me and teaching me things."
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's collaborations have not only produced great music but have also helped to break down barriers in the world of hip-hop. Their willingness to embrace their love of cannabis and incorporate it into their music has helped to normalize the use of the plant in the industry.
