George Strait: 2014 Cowboy Rides Away Tour

On Monday, Sept. 9th, George Strait announced that he will go on tour in 2014.  His new tour is titled "Cowboy Rides Away" and will be his final tour.  Strait will perform in 26 shows and will kick off January 9th and will finish up in June in Dallas.

Strait let it be known last September, that his touring days were coming to an end, much to the sadness of his fans.  He still plans to record albums.

Martina McBride is going to be a fixture in many of his tour dates. Strait plans to have many featured openers, someone different for each show like Eric Church, Ronnie Dunn, Jason Aldean, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Chris Young and Miranda Lambert.  Artists will be paired to tour dates at a later date.

Strait said, “It’s gonna be a little bittersweet for me.  It’s starting to sink in now after the first leg of the tour … it’s sinking in a little more and more every day.”

“My plan is to keep doing things here and there when I feel like it … I can’t see hanging it up for good, ever,” he adds. “As long as I’m enjoying it, I’m gonna keep doing it.”

This past Sunday at the Dallas Cowboys opening home game against the New York Giants, Strait has the privilege of being the team's honorary captain.  He was also in attendance from his own suite at the Cowboys Stadium.
