Britney made the announcement in the wee hours this morning in a elaborate set up in the desert. Unfortunately, the pop princess seemingly got sick in the helicopter and was less than exuberant in her interview with GMA's Sam Champion.
Britney is following in the footsteps of other musical greats. Celine Dion and Elton John both had long-term contracts in the city that never sleeps. While not nearly as lucrative as Dion's three-year deal worth as much as $100 million, Spears will not be performing nearly as much as Dion who performed sometimes 6 days a week, as opposed to Spears' once a week.
Spears will be performing at Planet Hollywood starting Dec. 27, in show that is being labeled as "cool" and "club-like."
Caesars Entertainment Corp, which owns Planet Hollywood and resorts and casinos, said in February that it was in talks with Spears about a headlining residency at its resort.
Last year, Spears was a judge on "The X Factor", but left after just one season. Let's be honest though, it was for the best. Oftentimes, I was left wondering if she had been hit with a tranquilizer gun. Her glazed over expression and "non-advice advice" was certainly not worth the $20 million they paid her. Honestly, it made me cringe to even write that. That is an insane amount of money!
