Big Headliners at Virgin Mobile FreeFest

The 5th annual Virgin Mobile FreeFest will take place on September 21 and feature music giants Vampire Weekend, Robin Thicke and MGMT .  The Virgin Mobile FreeFest will take place at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD and is the telecoms group’s charitable event that has a goal of ending youth homelessness.

The festival is a multi-stage event and other bands scheduled to preform include Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers, Kaskade, City and Colour, Icona Pop and CHVRCHES.

Mark your calendar for August 9th, as organizers will be handing out “tens of thousands” of free tickets from Aug. 9 via ticketfly.com.  A day prior, Virgin Mobile customers, previous show attendees, and Virgin Mobile's Facebook friends and Twitter followers will have an opportunity to get tickets at a specific time.

If you want to see this free show and be one of the about 50,000 in attendance, be prepared to act fast!  Tickets were snatched up in just minutes last year.

Since its inception, FreeFest has been able to fund-raise enough money to build The Sasha Bruce Re-Generation House in Washington, D.C., a transitional home for homeless youth.  The money from this year's earnings, will go towards running and maintaining the house for years to come.  Additionally, the House announced the show line-up via a wall mural.  Pretty cool!

A small amount of FreeFest “freemium” packages will be made available.  The freemium package will include admission to the fest, a T-shirt and a souvenir cup which includes free fountain drinks throughout the day. $10 from every package purchased will go towards the Virgin Mobile USA’s youth homelessness initiative.

Some of the previous preformers to take the main stage at FreeFest include  ZZ Top,  Alabama Shakes,  Nas,  and Jack White.
