YouTube Music and NIVA Announce SOSFest to Help Independent Venues

YouTube Music and the National Independent Venues Association (NIVA) just announced a live-streamed #SOSFest to benefit many independent venues across the United States who are struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The virtual music festival will happen between October 16—18 and will be hosted by Reggie Watts.  It will feature performances by tons of amazing performers like Brittany Howard, Foo Fighters, Phoebe Bridgers, FINNEAS, Miley Cyrus, Dave Matthews, Portugal.the Man, the Roots, YG, Major Lazer, and many more. The performances will be filmed at over 25 independent venues across the country, including the Troubadour in Los Angeles, the Apollo Theater in New York City, The Metro in Chicago and Exit/In in Nashville.  Check out the full list of artists below. Check out the streamed event here at 8 PM EST on starting October 16.

Earlier this week, NIVA released a statement after Donald Trump’s October 6 announcement that he was calling off stimulus talks. “We have been sounding the alarm since April that if our members don’t get emergency assistance, they will go under forever—and it’s happening,” the statement read. “This is real. We need help. We urge Congress and the White House to continue negotiations and reach a deal quickly or there will be a mass collapse of this industry.”
