Kanye West Tweet-Storms Record Labels

It would seem the Kanye is spiraling again.  It is a mere 47 days away from the presidential election (I can’t be the only one sick to death of politics, right?) and his campaign isn’t going so great, so he is focusing his energy on his record contract.  He has been on a multi-day tweet-storm to rid himself of his existing contract with Universal, his record label) and Sony/ATV (his publisher).

“EVERYONE AT UNIVERSAL AND VIVENDI PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY LEGAL POWER AND USE MY VOICE UNTIL ALL ARTIST CONTRACTS ARE CHANGED STARTING WITH GETTING MY MASTERS FOR MY CHILDREN I WILL NOT STOP I PROMISE YOU IM AM PETTY AND VERY PERSONAL,” Kanye lambasted. Afterward, he tweeted copies of his contract with Universal, page by page.  Oof.

A bit later in another tweet, Kanye proclaimed, “TRUST ME I WONT STOP UNTIL ALL IS FAIR.” To punctuate that point, he added a video of himself urinating on a Grammy trophy. “Trust me … I WONT STOP,” read the accompanying caption.

Kanye has been arguing with his labels for many years now.  He first filed against them in early 2019 over unpaid royalties and ownership rights.  He claimed his contracts were likened to servitude and wanted “to be set free from (their) bonds.”  Yikes.

It’s only Wednesday, but it’s been a busy week for Kanye.  Earlier this week, he threatened that he would commit a multi-day tweet storm until he was released from the contracts.  He seemingly made good on those threats.

Kanye dropped his latest album, “Jesus is King” about a year ago in October of 2019.  He was supposed to release another album titled “Donda” on July 24 of 2020, but have yet to be seen.

Never one to shy away for his contempt of the Grammys (remember that whole Taylor Swift/Beyonce debacle?), despite the fact that he has quite a collection of them, this year was no exception as he videoed himself urinating on an award in the toilet.  Yuck.  He’s claimed that the Grammys have snubbed his albums “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” and “Yeezus,”

I can’t unsee then and now neither will you.

So, that’s today’s news and happenings for our dear friend Kanye.  I wonder what he will think of next.
