John Mellencamp Announces 2015 Tour
Late last week, John Mellencamp announced dates for his upcoming massive North American Tour. The new tour is dubbed the “Plain Spoken” Tour and is support of his newest album of the same name. This is a HUGE tour, 80 stops in all. That’s a ton. The tour will kick off Jan. 21, 2015 in South Bend, IN and will wrap up May 12 in Pittsburgh, PA. There will be multiple stops in Mellencamp’s hometown of Bloomington, IN, Nashville, Minneapolis, NYC and more. Joining him on tour will be special guest Carlene Carter. A million years ago, I went to Indiana University (go Hoosiers!) in Bloomington. Mellencamp was a fixture around campus. I’d run into him all over the place like the mall, Jimmy Johns and state parks. His wife is super beautiful.
His new album, “Plain Spoken” will be released on Sept. 23 The NEW YORK TIMES said of the album, “The music looks back toward … ‘Blood On The Tracks,’ with strummed guitars, brushes on the drums, and neck-rack harmonica, and the words ponder trouble, power, love, God, freedom, and mortality.” The album is highly anticipated.
Mellencamp is well known for his philanthropic work, raising money and awareness for farmers. Additionally, a portion of the sales for the final performance of this tour held in Indianapolis will be donated to the Riley Children Hospital in Indianapolis.
