Grateful Dead Lives Again with Dead and Company

Great news, dead heads!  The Grateful Dead are back at it with none other than John Mayer.  Yea, I’m scratching my head a bit too.  The new super group is comprised of three of the Dead’s “Core Four,”  Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, the Allman Brothers Oteil Burbridge and Ratdog, Jeff Chimenti and Mayer named Dead & Company.  Their tour will kick off Halloween Night at Madison Square Garden in NYC and will wrap up New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles, CA.

While the Grateful Dead might have officially tapped out with their Fare Thee Well tour,  Weir said to Billboard,  “Those songs weren’t done with us. It was a matter of who wanted to get back out on the road and keep doing it.” Weir added that Mayer’s enthusiasm to perform Dead songs “was the cherry on the sundae that made this project look like a good idea.”
