Pippin the Musical coming to Los Angeles

The 2013 Tony Award winning show, Pippin, is coming to Los Angeles this fall.  Pippin will run from October 21 through November 9 at the Pantages Theater Hollywood.  The show won four Tony Awards in 2013 including Best Musical Revival.  Other tours are going on at the same time as well throughout the country.

Created by Godspell creator, Stephen Schwarts, Pippin tells the tale of a young prince who goes out in search of the ultimate meaning of life.  The curtains first went up on the show in 1972, with an appealing 1970’s rock score.  The story is told as a medieval fable and includes equal components of mischief as well as surrealism.   This new production is directed by Tony Award winning director Diane Paulus, who also directed Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess and Hair).  Choreography was created by the incomporable Bob Fosse and acrobatics were breated by Les 7 Doigts de la Main (Traces).  Fans can expect to see incredible acrobatics, mind-blowing magic and hear amazing songs from the same composer of Wicked.  Some of the notable songs fans can expect to hear include “Corner of the Sky,” ” Glory,” “Magic To Do” and more!

I’d be lying if I said I was super familiar with this musical, but it really sounds awesome.  If I was in the L.A. area this fall, I’d be sure to check this one out.   Seems like a really good time.  Apparently no children under 5 will be admitted, show is recommended for ages 9 and up.
