Metallica Celebrates 40 Years With Pair of Shows in San Francisco

It has been announced that veteran metal band Metallica will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a pair of shows at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The shows will happen in their home base on December 17th and 19th.  Metallica helped open the basketball arena in 2019 with their set of “S&M2” shows alongside the San Francisco Symphony.  This is not the only opportunity fans have to see Metallica live in 2021.  They will play two sets each at the Louder Than Life Festival in September, Aftershock in October and Welcome to Rockville in November.  They will also be the headlining act at ATLive concert in Atlanta.

A decade ago, Metallica celebrated their 30th anniversary with a residency at the Fillmore in San Francisco where they played music from their entire catalog.  It also included guest performances from former members like Dave Mustaine and Jason Newsted, and many more notable musicians.

Metallica is hard at work on a new studio album, their first since 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”  They will also be releasing a brand new super deluxe 30th-anniversary edition of their explosive 1991 self-titled fifth LP, aka “The Black Album.”  It will drop on September 10th.  Branching out into other avenues, they will also feature a brand new release in their Blackened American Whiskey line dubbed The Black Album Whiskey Pack.
