Cake and Ben Folds Teaming Up for Summer Tour

Two of my favorite 90’s bands are teaming up for a summer tour!  CAKE and Ben Folds just announced that they will be heading out on the road together for a 10 date tour.  They tour will kick off Aug. 13 in Boston, MA and will wrap up Aug. 25 in Indianapolis, IN.  They will also travel to Philadelphia, Nashville, Milwaukee and others. Special guests Tall Heights will join their co-headlining tour.  Before the tour kicks off CAKE will be performing at a number of festivals including Sunfest, Beale Street and Shaky Knees.

“Cake – my rough contemporaries, comrades and heroes – to me, they make universal, poetic, identifiable music with a groove, I’ve learned a lot from these guys and I’m proud as punch to go on tour with them this summer,” Ben Folds said in a statement, adding, “I’m telling my friends to get there early enough for Tall Heights – a great addition to this tour.”

Cake is currently working on their ninth studio album expected to be released later this year.  Cake’s 2011 album ‘Showroom of Compassion’ reached a career-best #1 on the Billboard 200.  Frontman John McCrea had worked with Ben Fold’s back in 2001 on Fold’s song, ‘Fred Jones, Part 2’ which was on is iconic debut solo album, ‘Rockin’ the Suburbs.’
