Pentatonix Bringing Acapella Style on the Road this Summer

Acapella is a thing.  In facts, it’s a huge thing.  It was really launched into the main stream by 2 entertainment forces: reality TV and a smash hit movie.  The masses really got their first taste of acapella with the reality TV show The Sing Off (2009-14) hosted by Nick Lachey and judged by Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, Sara Bareilles, and Nicole Scherzinger.  Their second taste came by way of the 2012 sleeper-hit Pitch Perfect.  Aca’scuse me?  Ha. Now that fans can’t get enough of the instrument free vocal sounds of acapella, enter stage left, Pentatonix, who actually won season three of The Sing Off and later became huge YouTube stars.

Now, Pentatonix has announced a big new summer tour across the United States.  The tour kicks off with three performances at the 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in Los Angeles and wraps up Sept. 3 in Essex Junction, VT.  The group will also visit Columbus, Milkwaukee, Des Moines, Grand Island, Highland Park, Saint Paul and Allentown.  This is a followup to 2016’s gigantic world tour with special gusts Us the Duo.

This tour will continue to support Pentatonix’s self-titled album released in Oct. of 2015 via RCA Records.  The album quickly rose the the #1 spot on the Billboard 200.  They have also since released a Christ album, “A Pentatonix Christmas” in Oct. of 2016.  2015 was a busy year for the group, they had their own “On My Home Tour” and later teamed up with Kelly Clarkson and her “Piece by Piece Tour.”
