Artist to Watch: Joyner Lucas

There is a fairly newish rapper out there that you should take note of, Joyner Lucas.  He just announced a brand new 2018 tour in support of his latest mixtape ‘508-507-2209.’  The tour will kick off on Jan. 23 for the first of 27 shows in San Diego, CA and will wrap up Feb. 28 in Tempe, AZ.  He will also travel to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Denver and more.

Joyner Lucas released his fourth mixtape, ‘508-507-2209’  on June 16, 2017 via Atlantic Records.  It is his first under a major label and earned him #7 on the Heatseekers Albums chart on Billboard and contained the singles “I’m Sorry”, “Ultrasound” and “Winter Blues”. About a month ago, Joyner Lucas released his single, “I’m Not Racist”, onto his YouTube account which quickly went viral. The song has a powerful message and doesn’t hold back as he raps about race and society, and race relations from the perspective of a white Donald Trump supporter, and a young black man.  See the video below. His debut mixtape  is called Along Came Joyner and was released in 2015. Joyner Lucas first really got his name out there in 2016 for his remix to the popular song “Panda”. This kid has something to say and I think everyone should take note.
