Theater to See: Fish In the Dark
Larry David might be best known for his work as head writer and star on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Now, the legendary writer is sinking his chops into something entirely different. Kicking off March 5, David will debut his new Broadway show, Fish in the Dark.
Fish in the Dark tells the tales of two brothers who are struggling with the death of their father. Thought the show has yet to officially open, it has already broken tons of records in the ticket market. Advance ticket sales have reached a staggering $14.5 million already. Already! Htere are about 100 shows scheduled that run from arch 5 through June 7. There is an all star cast featuring Rita Wilson, Rosie Perez, Ben Shenkman, Jerry Adler, Lewis J. Stadlen, Jayne Houdyshell and Larry David of course. David plays one of the leads, Noral Drexel, a spitting image of the 67-year-old comic.
David told the associated press, “I just started [writing], and then I just kept going. Things would occur to me as I was writing – I thought: ‘Oh boy, that’s a good idea.’ I didn’t plan it out the way I had to plan out a Curb episode. I just started writing the dialogue, and things fell into place.”
This show is going to be one you don’t want to miss. Be sure to check out Fish in the Dark if and when you can. Some of the other more popular Broadway include Book of Mormon, Constellations, The Audience and Aladdin.
